Join us at the Trochu Arboretum on Saturday, August 16 for an unforgettable Open Farm Days Festival—part of Alberta Open Farm Days provincewide celebrations.

Location: Trochu Arboretum, 622 North Road, Trochu, AB
Admission: Free! Open Farm Days are part of Alberta’s provincial event calendar. (Donations to the Arboretum are greatly appreciated)

What to Expect:

A lively Artisan Market featuring local vendors, handmade goods, and Farm‑to‑table treats. (see below for a list of vendors confirmed to date)

Live music, food, drink, and community connections throughout the day. (See below for more info)

Guest presenters and expert talks. (see below for a list of presenters)

Why Visit:

The Arboretum becomes a hub of community, agriculture, and nature. Discover market stalls, learn from presenters, enjoy live entertainment, and explore beautiful trails. It’s a day to shop local, learn, and celebrate our prairie oasis in a relaxed, welcoming setting.

  • Nordic Roots Homestead – Information on homesteading classes and farm tours.
  • Wandering Weaver – Woven items such as tea towels, scarfs, table runners, place mats, mug rugs, throws, baby blankets from natural fibers such as cotton, silk and bamboo.
  • Miss Mortification Creations – Jewelry, trinkets, cards, handmade artwork, face painting.
  • Bellmont Designs – Eco printing of botanicals onto paper and fabric. One of a kind art prints, tea towels, table runners, aprons, baby onesies, adult shirts and naturally dyed socks.
  • Wendy Johnson – Paintings of local landscapes. Will be painting on site!

  • Red Bird Diner – Locally made fry bread artisanal drinks (located in the small gazebo near the Hay House)
  • Gerdie’s Grill and Inn – cooking up local Huxley Colony’s burgers and hotdogs (located near the VIC building)
  • Drink stand – water and pop will be available for sale (located near the VIC Building)
