Arbor Day at the Trochu Arboretum is on May 22, 2025!
Join us for a special Arbor Day celebration at the Trochu and District Arboretum on Thursday, May 22, 2025! This year, we are thrilled to welcome special guests Professor Picklethorn, a renowned environmental educator, who will share fascinating insights about trees, conservation, and the magic of nature and local Certified Arborist, Maureen Sexsmith-West.

Schedule:
- Afternoon 1:30pm to 3:00pm: Visit from local schools – engaging activities for students. PEP Rally ‘Trees are the Answer’! – with Professor Elwood Pricklethorn and local Certified Arborist, Maureen Sexsmith-West.
- Evening 4pm to 7pm: Open to the public – everyone is welcome. Talk with Professor Picklethorn – An engaging session on the wonders of trees and ecosystems. Hotdog roast at 6pm.
In addition to learning about the benefits of trees, the role of an Arborist, photosynthesis, and a whole lot of other TREMENDOUS factoids about trees, we will highlight tree selection and planting – Right Tree, Right Place. We will be demonstrating how to properly plant a tree on the grounds.
We have lots of other activities including:
- Demonstrating how to properly plant a tree on the grounds.
- Tree bingo scavenger hunt
- Test your skills as a future arborist on the Rake Master Obstacle Course.
- Food, Games and Fun. Bring the Whole Family
